The best bidets for elongated toilets
Attachments mostly fit both shapes. Seats do not — and the makers that publish separate elongated dimensions are the ones worth buying.

The short answer

How to tell if your toilet is elongated
One measurement, thirty seconds. Measure from the midpoint between the two seat bolt holes at the back to the front edge of the rim.
Roughly 18.5 inches means elongated. Roughly 16.5 inches means round. Those two shapes cover almost every toilet in a US home.
The bolt hole spacing itself is 5.5 inches center to center on nearly all of them, which is why attachments can claim to fit both shapes while seats cannot. The full measuring method is on the seat replacement page.
Why attachments fit both shapes and seats do not
This is the whole architecture of the category, and it is worth thirty seconds.
An attachment is a thin plate that slides between your existing seat and the bowl. It bolts through the same two holes and spans a fixed 5.5 inches. The bowl in front of it is irrelevant, because the plate never reaches that far. That is why TUSHY can publish 95% and Bio Bidet can publish both shapes.
A seat replaces the seat entirely, so it has to match the bowl outline. Too short and the front of the rim is exposed; too long and it overhangs and flexes. There is no adjustment that fixes it.
So: if you are not sure of your bowl shape, an attachment is the lower-risk purchase. If you want a heated seat or a dryer, you need a seat, and you need to measure first. The full comparison is here.
What elongated changes in practice
Slightly more reach to the controls. On an attachment, the control knob sits at the side of the seat. On a longer bowl that is marginally further forward. Nobody publishes a figure and for most people it is not noticeable.
Nozzle position is designed around the bowl, not the seat. This is the reassuring part — the spray arm extends from the back of the unit to a fixed position, so it lands correctly on either shape.
More room in front, which is the reason elongated exists. It is generally the more comfortable shape, and it is why most newer US homes have it.
Weight, on the electric seats. Brondell publishes 9.9 lb elongated against 9.7 lb round on the SE600. Immaterial for use, relevant when you are holding it in place while finding the bolt holes.
Check clearance behind the toilet too
Bowl shape is the measurement everyone takes. The one people forget is what is behind and beside the toilet, and it fails more installs than fit does.
Every non-electric bidet here takes water from the toilet’s own fill line via a T-adapter at the shut-off valve. If your toilet is boxed in, sits tight against a wall, or has a concealed cistern, that connection may be awkward or impossible.
For the warm-water attachments, the hose has to reach the basin’s hot supply, and none of these manufacturers publishes a hose length. Measure the run before ordering. The warm-water feasibility check is here.
For the electric seat, the constraint is the outlet. Brondell publishes 3.9 ft on the Thinline T22 and 4 ft on the SE400, and an extension lead in a bathroom defeats the GFCI protection the outlet should have.
All of it is renter-safe
Every product here rates Safe on our install rating. Nothing is drilled, nothing is cut, and each one uses the two bolt holes your seat already occupies.
Keep the original seat and its fixings in a bag. Ten minutes on move-out day and the toilet is exactly as you found it. The install walkthrough is here, and the move-out sequence is here.
Every pick in full
4 we would buy, and one we would not. Each carries its Renter-Safe Install Rating, the published specs behind it, and the honest gap in what we know.

1. Best overall
TUSHY Classic 3.0 Bidet Attachment
TUSHY · Classic 3.0 · best for the widest published fit and the fastest install
TUSHY publishes a fit for 95% of toilets, round or elongated, and an install of under nine minutes.
The TUSHY Classic 3.0 is the pick because it publishes the fit claim most directly.
TUSHY states it fits “95% of toilets, round or elongated”, and is unusually specific about the exception — it does not fit French Curve toilets. A maker naming the bowl it fails on is a maker you can trust on the ones it claims.
The install is published as “8 ½ minutes or less on most standard toilets” using “a basic screwdriver and the connections included”, with “No outlet needed”.
Because an attachment is a thin plate that sits under your existing seat, bowl length matters far less than it does for a seat — the plate spans the bolt holes, which are 5.5 inches apart on almost every US toilet regardless of shape.

2. Best published fit statement
Bio Bidet SlimEdge Bidet Attachment
Bio Bidet by Bemis · SlimEdge · best for wanting the words 'round and elongated' in writing
Bio Bidet publishes “Fits Round and Elongated toilets” outright, on a 3.4 in dual-nozzle attachment.
The Bio Bidet SlimEdge publishes the plainest fit statement in the category: “Fits Round and Elongated toilets”.
It also publishes its own dimensions — W 17in x L 7.28in x H 3.4in — which is what actually lets you check clearance against your own bowl rather than trusting a claim.
Dual retractable nozzles, no batteries and no electricity, and a published one-year limited warranty.

3. Best seat with published elongated sizing
Brondell Swash EcoSeat S101 Non-Electric Bidet Seat
Brondell · EcoSeat S101 · best for replacing the seat rather than sliding a plate under it
Brondell publishes elongated dimensions of 20.03in L x 14.39in W x 2.55in H, separately from the round version.
If you would rather replace the seat than add a plate, the Brondell EcoSeat S101 is the one to buy on published dimensions.
Brondell publishes elongated at 20.03″L × 14.39″W × 2.55″H and round at 18.47″L × 14.34″W × 2.55″H — two genuinely separate products rather than one seat sold as universal.
That is the distinction that matters. A seat has to match the bowl outline or it overhangs at the front or leaves the rim exposed, and no amount of adjustment in the bolt slots fixes a shape mismatch.
It publishes a “gentle-close, sit-upon seat and lid”, dual self-cleaning nozzles, adjustable pressure, and operation “powered by water pressure alone”.

4. Best electric seat for elongated bowls
Brondell Swash Thinline T22 Bidet Toilet Seat
Brondell · Swash Thinline T22 · best for a full-feature seat that adds the least height
Published elongated at 20.7in L x 15in W x 3.9in H — the thinnest full-feature seat, with endless warm water.
The Swash Thinline T22 is the electric pick, and the elongated dimensions are published: 20.7″(L) x 15″(W) x 3.9″(H).
The height figure is the one to note. Brondell publishes “the thinnest in the industry at 99mm”, and on an elongated bowl — which is already the taller, longer format — keeping the added height down genuinely matters for standing up.
It adds an “instant ceramic water heater” for “endless warm water”, a three-level heated seat, a five-level warm air dryer and side-arm controls, on a published “3-year limited warranty”.

- Standard outlet — Brondell publishes a 3.9 ft cord
- Reversible on move-out
- Fully
Why: Reversible in the sense that matters — it bolts on where the old seat was and comes off the same way. The published 3.9-foot cord is the shortest on this site, so the outlet has to be genuinely close to the toilet.

The one to skip
LUXE Bidet NEO 320
LUXE Bidet · NEO 320 · best for anyone who has confirmed the hot line reaches
A capable warm-water attachment, and the only one here that publishes no fit statement or dimensions at all.
The skip on this page is about documentation rather than the product.
The LUXE NEO 320 is a genuinely useful attachment. It publishes dual retractable nozzles, a temperature control knob fed from a hot supply, a pressure lever, a self-cleaning nozzle mode, and a three-step fitting sequence with “No plumbing experience or electricity required”.
What it does not publish is any fit claim, any dimensions, any materials or any warranty. On a page whose entire purpose is checking a product against your bowl shape, a product with no published dimensions cannot be the recommendation.
If you already know it fits your toilet, it is a good buy and we recommend it on the warm-water page. For someone measuring an elongated bowl for the first time, buy one that publishes its size.

Why: The unit itself is as reversible as any attachment, but warm water means running a second line to the hot supply under the basin. That is still a compression fitting rather than a cut pipe — but it is a second connection a landlord may reasonably want to know about.

Questions people actually ask
how do i know if my toilet is round or elongated
Measure from the midpoint between the two seat bolt holes to the front edge of the rim. About 18.5 inches is elongated; about 16.5 inches is round. Bolt spacing is 5.5 inches on nearly every US toilet either way.
do bidet attachments fit elongated toilets
Almost always. An attachment is a thin plate spanning the two seat bolts, so the bowl shape in front of it does not matter. TUSHY publishes a fit for 95% of toilets round or elongated, and Bio Bidet publishes both shapes outright.
are bidet seats different for round and elongated toilets
Yes, and they are not interchangeable — a seat has to match the bowl outline. Brondell publishes separate dimensions for each shape on every model, which is what to look for before buying.
will a bidet nozzle still line up on an elongated bowl
Yes. The spray arm extends from the back of the unit to a fixed position, so it is designed around where you sit rather than how long the bowl is. Both shapes are covered by the same nozzle geometry.
