can i install a bidet myself
Yes, provided the toilet's shut-off valve turns and the seat bolts come off. A mechanical attachment goes between the bowl and your existing seat and tees off the tank fill line with a supplied T-valve. TUSHY publishes an install of eight and a half minutes or less on most standard toilets using a basic screwdriver.
does a bidet need electricity
Not most of them. Mechanical attachments and non-electric seats run on the water pressure already in your toilet's fill line — Brondell publishes the SimpleSpa as powered by water pressure alone, no batteries or electricity required. You only need an outlet for a heated seat, a warm-air dryer or on-board water heating.
how much does it cost to install a bidet
Nothing, if you fit it yourself, and every manufacturer here publishes it as a DIY job with no plumber required. The costs that catch people out are a replacement supply hose if yours is old, and — rarely but expensively — a shut-off valve that has seized.
bidet attachment vs seat
An attachment slides under your existing seat, needs no outlet, and installs in under ten minutes. A seat replaces the seat and adds a heated seat, a warm-air dryer and on-board water heating — but it needs a plug within about four feet of the toilet. Check for an outlet before you compare anything else.
does a bidet dry you
Only if it has a warm-air dryer, which in practice means an electric bidet seat. Attachments and non-electric seats wash but do not dry, so you still need a little paper or a dedicated towel.
does a bidet use toilet water
No. A T-valve splits the clean supply before it reaches the tank, so the bidet's water is the same potable water that feeds your sink, and it never touches the bowl.
does a bidet cause uti

shower head how to replace
Unscrew the old head anticlockwise while holding the shower arm still, scrub the old tape off the threads, wrap three to four layers of PTFE tape clockwise, then fit the new head hand-tight plus about a quarter turn. Fifteen minutes, one adjustable wrench, no need to turn off the water at the main.

Tie a bag of undiluted white vinegar around the head so the nozzles are submerged and leave it an hour — overnight only if the finish is chrome or stainless. Then scrub the face, rub any rubber nozzles with a thumb, and run the shower hot for a minute. This fixes a large share of what people diagnose as low pressure.

No showerhead increases pressure — none has a pump. What a good one does is concentrate the flow you already have through fewer, larger nozzles so it lands with more force. That is a genuine improvement and it is not the same thing as more pressure.
what is a shower arm
The curved pipe that comes out of the wall and holds the showerhead. It threads into a fitting inside the wall at one end and into the head at the other, and it — not the head — is what determines the height and reach of your shower.
is shower hose universal
In the United States, mostly. Handheld hoses use a 1/2-inch connection at both ends, the same standard as the shower arm, so most hoses fit most handhelds. The exceptions are proprietary fittings, imported hoses made to another market's standard, and integrated two-in-one heads.
are towel warmers worth it
On running cost, easily — at the US average of 18.34 cents per kWh, a 90 W freestanding rail on a two-hour daily timer costs about three cents a day. The real considerations are floor space and whether you will still use it after a month.
are heated towel rails safe
Ones with a published safety certification and a stated surface-temperature limit are designed to be. WarmlyYours publishes cULus listing and a TempSmart cap of 149°F on its freestanding rail. Look for the listing, the temperature figure, a plug-in rather than hardwired connection, and sensible placement.
what is a towel warmer
An electrically heated rail, bucket or cabinet that warms and dries towels. Rails run continuously at low wattage and keep several towels warm and dry; buckets run high wattage in short timed cycles and make one or two towels genuinely hot.

At the US average of 18.34 cents per kWh, a 60 W wall rail left on permanently is about 26 cents a day or $96 a year; the same rail on a two-hour timer is about two cents a day. The timer, not the model, decides the cost of ownership.
shower head filter vs water softener
They solve different problems. A shower filter reduces chlorine at one outlet and is certified to NSF/ANSI 177 for exactly that. A water softener removes dissolved calcium and magnesium from the whole house by ion exchange, and is the only one of the two that addresses hardness.

One with wipeable rubber nozzles or with fewer, larger openings. Delta publishes Touch-Clean soft rubber spray holes you rub calcium off with a thumb; High Sierra uses a single nozzle behind a mesh screen with a never-clog guarantee. Neither removes hardness — they cope with it.

Choose a flat spot away from grout lines, clean it with rubbing alcohol and let it dry, press the strip to the wall for 10 seconds, press the hook base on for 30 seconds, and wait a full hour before hanging anything. The hour is the step people skip and the reason hooks end up on the floor.

Three mechanisms work without a drill: a tension pole sprung between floor and ceiling, a frame that hangs over the shower arm, and adhesive or silicone grip. Tension carries the most weight; hanging is the simplest; adhesive is the most placement-flexible and the most surface-dependent.
