The best outdoor towel warmers
Start with the uncomfortable part: none of the towel warmers sold for homes publishes an outdoor rating. That changes what you should buy for a hot tub deck, and how you should use it.
By Sawyer V. · · How we research

The short answer
We earn a commission if you buy through the links on this page, at no extra cost to you. It does not change which products we pick or what we say about them — here is exactly how that works.
Quick picks
Tap any row for the full write-up. Prices are checked against Amazon rather than remembered — where we have no verified figure the button says so.
Why there is no such thing as a rated outdoor towel warmer
Search for one and you will find listings that use the word. What you will not find, on any of the products we rank, is a published outdoor rating, a weather rating or an IP number. We looked for one on every unit on this page and none publishes anything of the kind.
The closest the category comes to addressing water at all is a warning rather than a permission. WarmlyYours publishes that a hardwired rack must sit “at least 24" away from a wet location” and be fitted by a certified electrician on a GFCI-protected circuit. That is a manufacturer telling you where its product must not go.
So the workable answer is not a special outdoor product. It is a portable indoor one, used on a timer and brought back inside — which is also the cheapest answer.
What this means on a hot tub deck
- Use a portable unit on a timer. Set it when you get in; collect a hot towel when you get out. The unit never spends a night outdoors.
- If you plug anything in outside, it goes in a GFCI-protected outdoor outlet. This is the same requirement WarmlyYours publishes for its indoor hardwired racks, and the reasoning is stronger outdoors.
- Never leave a towel warmer in the weather. No published rating covers rain, snow or sustained damp on any of these.
- Do not hardwire anything near the water. See the skip.
The four, side by side
| Unit | Capacity / size | Timer | Published outdoor rating |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zadro TWB01 | 20 L, 480 W max | 15 / 30 / 45 / 60 min, auto shut-off | None published |
| VEVOR 20 L | 20 L, rated power not published | 20 / 40 / 60 min + 24-hour delay start | None published |
| Brookstone (Pursonic) bucket | 23 L, rated power not published | 3 settings, auto shut-off | None published |
| WarmlyYours Ibiza | 6 bars, 90 W, freestanding | None — switched | None published (cULus is not a weather rating) |
What about the hot tub “towel warmer” deck boxes?
A second kind of product turns up under this search: an insulated deck box sold as a towel and robe warmer, which holds heat from a microwavable pad rather than from an electrical element. Those are not powered towel warmers and we do not rank them here, because there is no wattage, no timer and no surface temperature to compare — the thing being sold is insulation. If what you want is a hot towel rather than a merely-not-cold one, it has to be a powered unit.
What we have not done
We have not used any of these and we have not taken any of them outdoors. Every figure above is published by the maker and cited beneath each pick. The central claim of this page — that no outdoor rating is published — is a statement about the absence of a specification, which you can check on the same manufacturer pages we link. Prices are read live and dated.
Every pick in full
4 we would buy, and one we would not. Each carries its Renter-Safe Install Rating, the published specs behind it, and the honest gap in what we know.

1. Best for a hot tub deck
Zadro 20-Liter Towel Warmer Bucket
Zadro · TWB01 · best for carrying a hot towel out and bringing the unit back in
A 20-liter, 480 W tub with a four-step timer and automatic shut-off, on an 83-inch cord — portable, so it never has to live outside.
The Zadro TWB01 is the best answer to an outdoor question because it does not have to stay outdoors. Zadro publishes a “20-Liter large towel heater tub” at a maximum 480 W on 120 V, with a timer set “to 15, 30, 45 or 60 minutes before automatically shutting off”.
That timer is the whole workflow. Set it when you get in the tub, and the towels are hot when you get out — without an appliance sitting in the weather. It is published at 21.25 inches high, 12 in diameter and 8.5 lbs, which is carryable, on an “83″” cord with a “polarized B power plug for increased safety”.
What Zadro does not publish is any weather, splash or IP rating. Treat it as an indoor appliance that visits the deck, plugged into a GFCI-protected outdoor outlet if it is used outside at all, and brought back in afterward.

Why: It is an appliance that sits on the floor and plugs into an outlet. There is nothing to fit, so there is nothing to undo.

What it costs to run — Electricity
- Rated power
- 480 W (Zadro’s published maximum)
- Cycle length
- 30 minutes — the middle of Zadro’s own timer settings
- Electricity rate
- 18.34 cents per kWh (US residential average, June 2026)
480 W x 0.5 h / 1000 x $0.1834 = $0.044
About 4 cents for a 30-minute cycle, or roughly $16 a year if you run one every day
Arithmetic on published specifications, not a measurement. Rate source: U.S. Energy Information Administration, Electric Power Monthly Table 5.6.A — US residential average 18.34 cents/kWh, June 2026.
What’s wrong with it
Zadro publishes no heat-up time and no maximum temperature, so the timer setting is trial and error at first.
What we can’t tell you
No IP or weather rating is published at all, so its tolerance for damp deck air is genuinely unknown rather than merely unstated.

2. Best published safety detail
VEVOR 20-Liter Towel Warmer Bucket
VEVOR · 20L with LED display and security lock · best for a deck where children are around the unit
20 L with a published child lock, 24-hour delay timer, ETL and FCC certification, and an overheat light that reddens above 140°F.
The VEVOR 20 L bucket publishes the most safety detail of any unit on this page, which matters more outdoors than in. It lists a “Child Lock”, an “Auto shut-off function”, and a “U-shaped overheat light (red when over 60°C/140°F)” — a visible warning rather than a silent cut-out.
The “24-Hour Reservation, 30-Minute Increment” delay start is the genuinely useful feature for a planned soak: set it in the morning, and the towels are warm when you come out in the evening.
It is “ETL & FCC-certified” and publishes “Bottom Drainage”, at 12.6 x 12.6 x 18.5 inches and 9.26 lbs. As with every unit here, none of that is an outdoor rating.

What’s wrong with it

What we can’t tell you
No IP rating and no published guidance on outdoor use, despite the listing being found under outdoor searches.

3. Best capacity for the money
Brookstone Luxury Towel Warmer Bucket with LED Display
Brookstone (by Pursonic) · Luxury Towel Warmer Bucket · best for two or more people getting out of the water at once
23 liters with three timer settings, auto shut-off, an LED display and four detachable hooks — the largest bucket we rank.
The Brookstone bucket publishes 23 liters of capacity — more than either unit above — with “3 Timer Settings with Auto Shut Off”, a “Built-In LED Display” and “4 Detachable Hooks”. Amazon lists it under Pursonic; it is the same unit under both names.
Capacity is the specification that decides a hot tub purchase, because a tub is rarely a solo activity and a 20-liter bucket is comfortably one large towel. Three extra liters is a real difference at this size.
Brookstone publishes less than the others — no rated power, no maximum temperature and no dimensions — which is the trade for the capacity and the price. Our full read on this one is here.

4. Best for a covered porch
WarmlyYours Ibiza Freestanding Towel Warmer
WarmlyYours · TWS5-IBZ06PP · best for a sheltered, roofed space with a gfci outlet, not open deck
90 W across 6 bars, freestanding on a NEMA 5-15 plug, cULus listed, with a 5-year warranty — a rack that can be wheeled back indoors.
If what you want is a rack rather than a bucket, it has to be the freestanding kind. The Ibiza publishes “90 W” on “120 V” across “6” bars, as “Freestanding” with a “71″” cord and a “NEMA 5-15 (Type B)” plug.
A plug and no fixings means it can be moved under cover when the weather turns, which is the only version of “outdoor towel warmer” that is defensible. It is “cULus Listed” with a “5-year limited warranty”.
Read the limits honestly: a cULus listing is a safety certification for the product as specified, not a weather rating, and WarmlyYours does not publish one. Covered, dry and GFCI-protected is the most this should be asked to do. The freestanding racks are ranked here.

The one to skip
Grande 10 Towel Warmer, Brushed, Hardwired, 10 Bars
WarmlyYours · TWS6-GRD10BH · best for an indoor bathroom wall, wired by a certified electrician
An excellent indoor rack, and the single thing you must not install outside — the maker publishes a wet-location setback.
This is a good product in the wrong place. WarmlyYours publishes the “10 heated, flat bars” at 155 W, an “Average Surface Temperature 122°F / 50°C” and a five-year warranty. We rank it on the hardwired page.
It is the skip because of two published installation requirements. WarmlyYours states that “A towel warmer with a hardwired connection must be on a GFCI-protected circuit”, fitted by a “professional who is certified to do electrical wiring”, and mounted “at least 24" away from a wet location”.
A hot tub deck is a wet location by definition, and a hardwired appliance cannot be carried indoors when the weather turns. If you want a rack outdoors, it has to be the freestanding plug-in kind above, under cover. Freestanding against wall-mounted is compared here.

Questions people actually ask
is there a towel warmer rated for outdoor use
Not among the units we rank. None of them publishes an outdoor rating, a weather rating or an IP number. The workable approach is a portable plug-in unit used on a timer and brought back indoors afterward.
what is the best towel warmer for a hot tub
A portable bucket on a timer. The Zadro TWB01 publishes 20 liters at a maximum 480 W with a 15, 30, 45 or 60-minute timer and auto shut-off, so you set it when you get in and collect a hot towel when you get out.
can you put a heated towel rail outside
Not a hardwired one. WarmlyYours publishes that a hardwired rack must be on a GFCI-protected circuit, installed by a certified electrician, and at least 24 inches away from a wet location — and a hot tub deck is a wet location.
are outdoor towel warmer deck boxes any good
They are insulated boxes, usually with a microwavable heat pad, rather than powered towel warmers. They keep towels from going cold but publish no wattage, timer or surface temperature, so they cannot deliver or be compared on actual heat.
