The best sliding shower doors
A sliding door lives or dies on two measurements: the width of your opening and the flat surface at its edges. Everything else is finish.

The short answer
We earn a commission if you buy through the links on this page, at no extra cost to you. It does not change which products we pick or what we say about them — here is exactly how that works.
Quick picks
Tap any row for the full write-up. Prices are checked against Amazon rather than remembered — where we have no verified figure the button says so.
Measure the opening first
Every door here is sold for a range of widths. Measure wall to wall at the top, middle and bottom of the opening and check every figure falls inside the door’s range:
- Levity bypass: 44-11/16 to 47-5/8 in.
- Cursiva: 56-1/8 to 59-7/8 in.
- Levity Plus and Tellin: 56-5/8 to 59-5/8 in.
Outside those ranges, none of these doors fits, however much you like the look.
The fit notes in the fine print
The sheets carry limits that can rule a door out before style comes into it. The Levity Plus, Tellin and older Levity allow a base-to-wall radius of 1/2 in. at most, so a tub or base with a rounded corner where it meets the wall may not work. The Levity Plus and Tellin need 3 in. of flat surface on the shower ledge and 3-1/2 in. on the wall; the Levity bypass needs 2-1/2 in. and 3-1/2 in.
The Cursiva is “Not for use with cast iron shower bases”. Every door here is for residential use.
Height and clearance
The Cursiva is 78 in. tall with a 74-7/8 in. minimum head clearance. The Levity Plus and Tellin are 77-9/16 in. high with 71-9/16 in. minimum head clearance, and Kohler wants a vertical opening of at least 80-1/2 in. to install them. The Levity bypass is 74 in. tall.
Walk-through
A sliding door always leaves one panel in the way. The Levity Plus and Tellin give 24-9/16 to 27-9/16 in. to step through, the Cursiva 21-13/16 to 25 in., and the Levity bypass 18-1/16 to 21-1/16 in. If someone in the home needs a wide, clear entry, a curtain leaves the whole opening.
Glass, coating and warranty
The three 60 in. doors use 5/16 in. (8 mm) tempered glass; the bypass uses 1/4 in. (6 mm). Thicker glass is heavier: 142 lb for the Cursiva against 81.72 lb for the bypass. Kohler does not publish a weight for the Levity Plus or Tellin.
All five carry Kohler’s CleanCoat+ coating. Kohler says it protects doors “10 times longer than original CleanCoat”, and publishes the basis: “Based on 2021 internal wear/abrasion testing using a microfiber cloth.” That is Kohler’s own test, not an independent one. Every door here carries the KOHLER Bath and Shower Doors Ten-Year Limited Warranty, and the Levity and Tellin sheets list the ANSI Z97.1 and CPSC 16 CFR 1201 safety-glazing standards.
Replacing an old door
Kohler’s Levity bypass sheet says it plainly: “the narrow wall jamb design of this door may not cover the existing shower door holes”. Whatever you buy, plan to fill and finish the old fixing holes before the new jambs go up. Glass shelves and caddies change too: storage for glass doors is covered here.
If you rent
Every door here rates Owner-only on our install rating: the jambs are fixed to the walls. The renter’s version of an upgrade here is a better curtain and liner.
Every pick in full
4 we would buy, and one we would not. Each carries its Renter-Safe Install Rating, the published specs behind it, and the honest gap in what we know.

It fits openings of 56-1/8 to 59-7/8 in., the widest range of the 60 in. doors, with 3/8 in. of out-of-plumb adjustment on each side, and it can be set to open left or right. It stands 78 in. tall and the frame is “Anodized aluminum” to resist corrosion.

2. Best with towel bars
Levity Plus Frameless Sliding Shower Door, 5/16 in. Crystal Clear Glass
Kohler · K-702424-L · best for showers with nowhere else to hang a towel
5/16 in. frameless glass with towel bars inside and out, and the widest walk-through here.
The Kohler Levity Plus earns its place with one feature: “Interior and exterior towel bars provide integrated storage on the doors”. In a bathroom short on wall space, that is a towel bar you do not have to drill for.
The rest is solid: the same 5/16 in. glass, an “Innovative roller design with stainless steel bearings”, a “Cushioned center guide” for quiet sliding, and a walk-through of 24-9/16 to 27-9/16 in. It fits 56-5/8 to 59-5/8 in. openings and comes in four finishes, including Matte Black and brushed brass.

3. Best barn-door style
Tellin Frameless Sliding Shower Door, 5/16 in. Crystal Clear Glass
Kohler · K-701582-L · best for a contemporary look, opening left or right
A dual sliding barn-door style in 5/16 in. glass that can be installed to open either way.
The Kohler Tellin is the style pick: a “Dual sliding barn door style” with “Vertical handles”, on the same stainless-bearing rollers and 5/16 in. glass as the Levity Plus.
Kohler also publishes that the “Door can be installed to open to the left or right to suit your bathroom layout”, which helps when the shower head or the bathroom door sits at one end. Width, height and walk-through match the Levity Plus.

4. Best for a narrower opening
Levity Bypass Shower Door, 1/4 in. Crystal Clear Glass
Kohler · K-706008-L · best for openings of 44-11/16 to 47-5/8 in.
1/4 in. frameless glass for the roughly 4 ft. openings the 60 in. doors do not fit.
The Kohler Levity bypass door is here because the other three all need an opening of about 5 ft. It fits 44-11/16 to 47-5/8 in., stands 74 in. tall, and uses “Frameless, 1/4″ (6 mm) thick Crystal Clear tempered glass”.
It weighs 81.72 lb, comes in six finishes, and carries the same ten-year limited warranty. Its walk-through is 18-1/16 to 21-1/16 in., so measure who needs to get through it.

The one to skip
Levity Frameless Sliding Shower Door, 5/16 in. Crystal Clear Glass
Kohler · K-706165-L · best for nobody shopping new
Kohler's own sheet says it is replaced by the Levity Plus K-702424-L.
The older Levity K-706165-L still turns up in listings, and it is not a bad door.
It has 5/16 in. frameless glass, a cushioned center guide, vertical blade handles and the same ten-year limited warranty. But its specification sheet says, in Kohler’s words, “This product is replaced by 702424-L.”
Buying the outgoing model means buying a door its maker has moved on from, when the replacement fits the same width range and adds towel bars. It also asks for more height: its sheet wants a vertical opening of at least 84-1/2 in. for installation clearance, against 80-1/2 in. for the Levity Plus.
