Gauze, waffle or heavier cotton
The weave decides most of what you will notice. Gauze, like the Cloud Cotton, is layers of fine open fabric. Waffle, like the ONSEN and Coyuchi robes, is a honeycomb weave; ONSEN publishes its waffle as 30% lighter than terry. Heavier cotton, like the Classic Turkish at 450 GSM, is what most people picture as a hotel robe.
Lighter robes suit warm bathrooms and quick changes. Heavier ones are for lounging.

On paper, the Parachute Classic Turkish Cotton Robe is a good robe.
Parachute publishes “450 grams per square meter”, lengths of 44.5 to 48.5 in., and “Two slouchy front pockets, a snug waist tie and cozy shawl collar”.
The problem is the terms. Every size was sold out on Parachute’s store when we checked, and the listing is marked “FINAL SALE”, which means no returns. A robe is a garment you need to try on; buying one you cannot send back, in a size you cannot check, is the wrong risk. The Cloud Cotton is the Parachute robe to buy.
