The best towel warmers for robes and large towels
Most towel warmers are sized for a hand towel. A bath sheet or a robe is a different problem, and only some of the specs tell you so.

The short answer
We earn a commission if you buy through the links on this page, at no extra cost to you. It does not change which products we pick or what we say about them — here is exactly how that works.
Quick picks
Tap any row for the full write-up. Prices are checked against Amazon rather than remembered — where we have no verified figure the button says so.
The spec that decides this, and how rarely it is published
For a bath sheet or a robe, the numbers that matter are bar length, bar spacing and total height. Wattage is almost irrelevant.
A large towel needs to hang in a single layer with air on both sides. Fold it in four to make it fit and the middle stays cold and damp no matter how long you run the rail.
Which makes it frustrating that only one product on this site publishes a capacity statement: WarmlyYours says the Barcelona warms “up to 2 large towels”. Everyone else publishes a bar count and leaves the rest to you.
In the absence of that figure, use the published dimensions: total width tells you how much bar you get, and total height tells you whether a robe will clear the floor.
Warming and drying are different jobs
This trips people up most at large sizes, so it is worth being blunt.
A bucket warms. Short, intense cycle, one towel, hot in twenty to thirty minutes. It does not meaningfully dry, because there is nowhere for moisture to go inside a closed tub.
A rail dries. Low wattage, continuous, air circulating on both sides of the fabric. Over hours it takes a damp towel to genuinely dry.
For a bath sheet the drying job is the one that matters. A bath sheet holds far more water than a hand towel, and a bathroom that never dries it out is how towels start to smell. That problem is covered in full here.
What it costs to run one of these
All three rails publish wattages, so this is arithmetic rather than a guess. At the US average residential rate of 18.34 cents per kWh:
Palma, 60 W. 0.06 kW × 24 h = 1.44 kWh a day, × $0.1834 = about 26 cents a day, roughly $96 a year.
Ibiza, 90 W. 2.16 kWh a day, about 40 cents a day, roughly $145 a year.
Barcelona, 150 W. 3.6 kWh a day, about 66 cents a day, roughly $241 a year.
Those are continuous figures and they are why the timer conversation matters so much at this size. Run the Barcelona two hours a day instead and it is about 5 cents a day. None of these rails publishes a timer, so add a plug-in one.
Two of the three need no drilling
The Barcelona and the Ibiza are both published as freestanding. They stand on the floor and plug into a standard outlet, so they rate Safe on our install rating with nothing to make good on move-out day.
That is unusual and genuinely valuable. A heated towel rail is normally a hardwired fixture, and being able to have one in a rental without touching the wall or the wiring is the whole reason these two are ranked first.
The Palma is the exception — WarmlyYours publishes it as wall mounted with a hardware kit, which means holes and permission. The plug-in versus hardwired distinction is here.
One safety note that applies to all of them: both freestanding rails publish overheat protection — TempSmart capping the Ibiza below 149°F and the Barcelona at 167°F — and both are independently listed. Do not drape anything over a rail that blocks airflow entirely, and never dry synthetics that state a low maximum temperature.
Every pick in full
3 we would buy, and one we would not. Each carries its Renter-Safe Install Rating, the published specs behind it, and the honest gap in what we know.

1. Best overall
WarmlyYours Barcelona Freestanding Towel Warmer
WarmlyYours · TW-BC-08BS-FS2 · best for two bath sheets, or a robe, with no drilling
The only warmer here that publishes a large-towel capacity: 8 heated bars, 150 W, freestanding.
The WarmlyYours Barcelona is the pick because it is the only product in this category that answers the actual question in writing.
WarmlyYours publishes “8” heated round bars “warming up to 2 large towels”. Everything else in the category publishes a bar count and leaves you to guess what fits on it.
The dimensions back it up: 24″ (610 mm) W x 37″ (940 mm) H x 15.5″ (394 mm) D. Twenty-four inches of bar is enough to drape a bath sheet without folding it into a thick pad, which is what actually determines whether it dries.
It publishes 150 W, 512 Btu per hour, 304-stainless steel, a 77 inch cord, cETLus listing, TempSmart overheat protection limiting the surface to 167°F, and an integrated power switch. It is freestanding, so nothing goes into the wall.

What’s wrong with it
150 W is the highest continuous draw here — about 66 cents a day run non-stop. It publishes no timer, so add a plug-in one.
What we can’t tell you
WarmlyYours publishes no drying time and no maximum towel weight.

2. Best tall rail
WarmlyYours Ibiza Freestanding Towel Warmer
WarmlyYours · TWS5-IBZ06PP · best for height for a full-length robe, at lower wattage
Six heated bars on a published 34.84 in tall freestanding frame, drawing only 90 W.
The WarmlyYours Ibiza is the pick if the item you actually want to warm is a robe.
A robe is a height problem rather than a width problem — hang one over a short rail and most of it pools on the floor. WarmlyYours publishes 34.84″ (885 mm) H x 21.85″ (555 mm) W x 13.97″ (355 mm) D, which is enough drop to hang a robe over the top bar and keep it clear.
At a published 90 W and 307 Btu per hour it is also the more economical of the two freestanding rails — roughly 40 cents a day running continuously against 66 for the Barcelona.
Six heated bars, 304-stainless steel, a 71 inch cord, cULus listed, TempSmart capping the surface below 149°F (65°C), and a five-year warranty — the longest here.

3. Best where floor space is gone
WarmlyYours Palma Wall-Mounted Plug-In Towel Warmer
WarmlyYours · TWS2-PLM04PP · best for a wall-mounted rail in a small bathroom
Four heated bars at 60 W, wall mounted, shipped with a published hardware kit and manual.
The WarmlyYours Palma is the honest compromise when a freestanding rail simply will not fit.
WarmlyYours publishes 19.68″ H x 17.71″ W x 4.33″ D and four square heated bars at 60 W, the lowest draw here at about 26 cents a day continuous.
Be clear about the trade though. At under 20 inches tall this is a hand-towel and folded-bath-towel rail. A bath sheet will hang most of the way to the floor and a robe will not work at all.
It is also the one product on this page that is not renter-safe by default: WarmlyYours publishes it as “Wall Mounted” with an installation hardware kit, which means drilling and a landlord conversation.

The one to skip
Zadro 20-Liter Towel Warmer Bucket
Zadro · TWB01 · best for one hot towel, which is a different product
A well-specified bucket, and a 20-liter tub is the wrong shape for a bath sheet and cannot take a robe at all.
The skip here is a format mismatch, and it is the main thing this page exists to warn about.
The Zadro TWB01 is a good product. It publishes a 20-liter capacity, 480 W, a 15/30/45/60 minute timer with automatic shut-off, 21.25 inches high by 12 inches across, and an 83 inch cord. We recommend it on the bucket page.
But a bucket works by wrapping one towel around a heated drum inside a tub. A bath sheet has to be folded hard to fit, and folding is exactly what stops it warming through evenly. A robe — with sleeves, a collar and a belt — does not go in at all.
There is a second problem specific to large items. A bucket makes a towel hot; it does not dry it. Put a damp bath sheet in and take it out twenty minutes later and you have a warm damp bath sheet. The bucket-versus-rack distinction is here and it matters more at this size than any other.

Questions people actually ask
what size towel warmer do i need for a bath sheet
Look for published bar length and total width rather than wattage. WarmlyYours publishes the Barcelona at 24 inches wide with 8 bars and states it warms up to 2 large towels — the only explicit capacity claim we found in the category.
can you put a bathrobe on a towel warmer
On a tall freestanding rail, yes — a robe is a height problem, and the Ibiza's published 34.84 inch frame gives enough drop to keep it off the floor. A bucket cannot take a robe at all.
will a towel warmer dry a large towel or just warm it
Depends on the format. A rail circulates air on both sides and genuinely dries over hours. A bucket warms one towel inside a closed tub with nowhere for the moisture to go — put a damp bath sheet in and you get a warm damp bath sheet.
how much does a large towel warmer cost to run
At 18.34 cents per kWh: the 60 W Palma is about 26 cents a day run continuously, the 90 W Ibiza about 40 cents, and the 150 W Barcelona about 66 cents — roughly $241 a year. A plug-in timer cuts that by around 90 percent.
