The best robe hooks
Robe hooks get chosen by finish and judged by whether they are still on the wall a year later. Only a few makers publish the number that decides it.

The short answer
We earn a commission if you buy through the links on this page, at no extra cost to you. It does not change which products we pick or what we say about them — here is exactly how that works.
Quick picks
Tap any row for the full write-up. Prices are checked against Amazon rather than remembered — where we have no verified figure the button says so.
The number to look for
The published load is the whole story with a hook, and here it is:
- Delta Cassidy: 20 lb, from Delta’s answer on the page.
- Command Bath strips: 3 lb (medium) and 5 lb (large).
- Delta Dryden: 5 lb.
- Tooletries Arnold: 4 lb.
We found no published weight for a wet robe, so we will not tell you which rating is enough. You can find out in a minute: weigh the robe wet on a bathroom scale, then choose a hook with room to spare.
Where to put it
The ADA Standards set one rule for coat hooks: “Coat hooks shall be located within one of the reach ranges specified in 308.” That range is 15 in. minimum to 48 in. maximum above the floor for an unobstructed forward or side reach. In a home, it is a sensible limit if anyone has trouble reaching up.
Near the shower is better than across the room, and on a dry wall is better than inside the spray for anything except the Arnold.
Drilled, adhesive or silicone
A drilled hook holds the most when the anchors suit the wall. Adhesive holds well on smooth surfaces if you follow the cure time. Silicone grips glass and gloss tile and moves when you change your mind. The trade-offs are compared here, and suction against adhesive inside the shower is here.
Hook or bar?
A hook stores a robe; a bar dries a towel spread out. If the robe is a heavy one, a towel bar or a warmer sized for robes will dry it faster than a hook. Our robe picks are here.
If you rent
The Delta hooks rate Ask first on our install rating; the Command and Tooletries hooks rate Safe. Removing adhesive hooks cleanly is covered here.

3 we would buy, and one we would not. Each carries its Renter-Safe Install Rating, the published specs behind it, and the honest gap in what we know.

3. Best inside the shower
Tooletries The Arnold Shower Hook
Tooletries · The Arnold · best for glass, mirror and gloss tile

The one to skip
Dryden Double Robe Hook
Delta · 75135 · best for matching an existing dryden set
A drilled hook that publishes 5 lb, the same as an adhesive strip, and the deepest projection here.
Delta publishes the Dryden double robe hook’s capacity plainly, and that is the problem.
Its figure is “5 lbs”. You drill two holes for a hook that carries what 3M rates its large adhesive strip to carry, while Delta’s own Cassidy is given 20 lb.
It also “Extends 4-11/16 in. from wall”, the deepest on this page. If you are going to drill, drill for the Cassidy.
